A Boldly Reimagined Venue Featuring a Hyper-Realistic 270-Degree Virtual Environment, Encapsulated in a Fully Kinetic Floor-to-Ceiling Shutter System, Enabling Unlimited Stage Designs and Configurations—All Underpinned by World-Class Production Technology
BROOKLYN, N.Y., March 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — After a decade of defining New York’s nightlife, earning international acclaim, and shaping the cultural landscape, The Brooklyn Mirage has closed its doors—only to reemerge this Spring in a spectacular new form. Inspired by operatic grandeur, the legendary venue has been completely reimagined from the ground up, ushering in a new era for live music, art, and immersive nightlife experiences when it reopens on May 1.
Since its inception, The Brooklyn Mirage has continuously evolved, pioneering a new standard for nightlife by offering an open-air sanctuary where world-class artists and audiences unite. True to its name, each winter, The Mirage disappears, only to regenerate in the spring. This year, however, marks a radical transformation—one that will redefine the boundaries of music, technology, culture, dance experience, and hospitality. Created by Avant Gardner’s in-house design and production team, in partnership with design studios Hard Feelings and Studio Greenbank, the next generation marks a feat of architectural, audio and visual artistry.
Incorporating a monumental heavy timber structure, a pioneering achievement in sustainable design and precision engineering, and measuring 197 feet by 164 feet and soaring 65 feet high, this is among the largest timber builds of its kind in the USA. Unlike conventional large-scale event structures, which often rely on steel or aluminum, this build sets a new benchmark for sustainability. The structure is fully pre-manufactured and CNC-cut with the latest addition technology showcasing how advanced prefabrication techniques can push the limits of what is possible in contemporary event space design.
Introducing Mirage Next Generation: A Fully Kinetic, Immersive Experience
The Brooklyn Mirage became known for its signature LED video wall, an iconic feature of its last generation. Now, the venue is unveiling its most ambitious evolution yet—Mirage 4.0—featuring the world’s first fully kinetic shutter system of this scale in a live music venue. When closed, this architectural feature pays homage to the first Mirage generations, which had no LED screens at all. With the shutter system open, a hyper-realistic 270-degree virtual environment is created by LED screens with a combined 30K resolution, 100 million pixels and over 3,000 tiles—exceeding the size, density, and scale of visual experiences at some of the world’s largest music festivals. Complementing the revolutionary visual system is an all-new, custom-built L-Acoustics sound system, the industry leader in festival and nightclub audio. Over 100 precision-calibrated speakers and subwoofers will be strategically placed throughout the venue to ensure perfectly balanced sound, delivering an unparalleled sonic experience no matter where guests are in the space.
This dynamic system enables unlimited configurations, ensuring that no two shows will ever look the same. Designed to host performances of any type and genre, from world-class DJ sets to intimate live concerts featuring superstars typically seen only in arenas and stadiums, the stage has been engineered to accommodate the most pioneering productions. With a 90-foot-wide performance area and an industry-leading 400,000-pound roof rigging capacity, the setting empowers artists to bring their most visionary performances to life. The New Mirage delivers an arena-level production experience where every guest feels like they are in the front row. And for guests seeking an even more elevated dance experience, they need only look up. Opera style balconies have been installed above the dance floor, offering unobstructed sight lines, ample room to dance or relax, and bespoke hospitality amenities. The new layout also frees up even more space on the dancefloor.
“The Brooklyn Mirage has always been a place to dance, to lose oneself in moments of pure, electrifying energy. It’s a space where people, community, and culture converge to create unforgettable memories,” said Josh Wyatt, CEO of Avant Gardner. “When we decided to rebuild the venue from the ground up, we aimed to honor its legacy while expanding the dance floor, creating immersive side-quest spaces, and pushing the boundaries of music, art, and technology. This is not just an upgrade — it’s a rebirth. The New Mirage will be everything fans worldwide love about this space—while delivering a completely new, mind-blowing sensory experience. New York City deserves a venue that evolves with the culture, and that’s exactly what we’re creating.”
Enhancing Guest Experience & Safety
To ensure a seamless experience from arrival to departure, The Brooklyn Mirage has made significant infrastructure investments inside and outside the venue. New lighting, signage, rideshare drop-off zones, and cell service enhancements will improve guest navigation and connectivity. Additionally, the venue has enhanced its team of trained guest ambassadors, expanded private security patrols, and increased first responder-trained staff to enhance safety and overall guest experience.
New Media Art & A Star-Studded Season Ahead
Beyond its state-of-the-art production and hospitality innovations, The Brooklyn Mirage is launching a New Media Art Program, inviting internationally renowned and emerging multidisciplinary artists— including members of the local creative community—to showcase their works on-site.
With over 100 shows already confirmed for 2025, the season kicks off on May 1 with a powerhouse lineup featuring Sara Landry, Alesso, The Martinez Brothers, Peggy Gou, Cloonee, Anjunadeep, Artbat presenting Upperground, Cityfox, Elrow, Amelie Lens presenting Exhale, Boiler Room, Sammy Virji, Two Friends, Excision, Rezz, Gryffin, Subtronics, Francis Mercier, Nora En Pure presenting Purified, Galantis, The Chainsmokers, A.G.
